I think the main reason why do we always hear this phrase "Love is blind" is the fact that lovers use his/her heart and not the eyes per se. And it will be appropriate to say "Love is blind and lovers cannot see".
It is really true that if you want to appreciate life to the fullest, you have to use your heart, for the heart can feel everything but technically speaking, any visual stimulation will lead to emotional stimulation.
